Giant Holiday Ice Cubes - Fun and Festive

These fun and festive giant holiday ice cubes are a cute addition to cocktail glasses or pitchers of holiday punch.

Add A Little Fun To Your Holiday Drinks

This is one of those small details that is a great conversation starter (dare I say ice breaker?) at a holiday gathering. And with almost no fuss at all!

These particular ice cubes have fresh cranberries and fresh rosemary sprigs inside of them, but you can add any virtually any small, fresh produce.

You Need Giant Ice Cube Molds

You need a giant ice cube mold for a couple of reasons. First, you want enough space in the ice cube to fit a couple of items. Second, you want them to last a while so that people can enjoy them, and if they are small they will melt very quickly. I make 2-inch cubes which last for hours in a cold drink. Mine were still in tact in a pitcher of punch that I put in the refrigerator overnight!

    Distilled Water is Recommended

You can use regular tap water to make the ice cubes, but they tend to come out quite cloudy. I used distilled water to make my ice cubes. They still have some cloudiness, but you can definitely see the contents of the ice cube. For very clear cubes you should use water that has been boiled. See a chemist's instructions for making crystal clear ice cubes here: https://www.thoughtco.com/crystal-clear-ice-cubes-3980638.

Steps To Make Holiday Ice Cubes

    • Add water to ice cube molds until they are ⅓ - ½ full. Let set for about 2 hours.
    • Add in several cranberries and a sprig or two of rosemary. Let set for another hour.
    • Add water to fill ice cube molds to the top. Freeze thoroughly.

Serve with your favorite cocktail or in a festive holiday punch and enjoy!
