Ingredients

  • 1-½ oz Vodka
  • 1-½ oz Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
  • ¾ oz Simple syrup

Instructions

  • Place a handful of fresh ice in a mixing glass
  • Pour in the vodka, grapefruit juice and simple syrup
  • Stir vigorously for 30 seconds
  • Strain into a cocktail glass
  • Add a wedge of fresh grapefruit for garnish, if desired

Notes

Variations:
  • Salty Dog Cocktail -- The same recipe, just add some salt to the rim of the glass.
  • Italian Greyhound Cocktail -- Keep the vodka and the grapefruit juice, just add 1 ounce of Campari.
  • Rosemary Greyhound Cocktail -- The same drink, just add a sprig of Rosemary as a garnish. Or, you can try to make a homemade rosemary-infused simple syrup.
  • Sparkling Greyhound -- Add a splash of club soda or ginger ale for a sparkling version of this grapefruit cocktail.
