Homemade Thousand Island Dressing

Homemade Thousand Island dressing is fresh, tangy, and a mid century favorite that tastes great on salads, sandwiches, and even as a dipping sauce for appetizers at your next party!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 4 teaspoons sweet pickle relish
  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons white onion minced
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • teaspoon pepper

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to a small mixing bowl.
  • Whisk everything together until fully combined.
  • Place in an airtight container and chill in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Storage:
Salad dressing can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Do not freeze.
Variations:
    • Add 1 finely chopped hard boiled egg
    • Use a dash or two of hot pepper sauce
    • Replace the sweet pickle relish with dill pickle relish
    • Include 1 teaspoon of horseradish sauce
    • Substitute cocktail sauce in place of ketchup
    • Add 1 clove of finely minced garlic
    • Use a red onion in place of a white onion
    • Add a teaspoon a Worcestershire sauce
