Homemade Thousand Island Dressing
Homemade Thousand Island dressing is fresh, tangy, and a mid century favorite that tastes great on salads, sandwiches, and even as a dipping sauce for appetizers at your next party!
1 cup mayonnaise ¼ cup ketchup 4 teaspoons sweet pickle relish 4 teaspoons sugar 2 tablespoons white vinegar 2 teaspoons white onion minced ¼ teaspoon kosher salt ⅛ teaspoon pepper
Add all ingredients to a small mixing bowl.
Whisk everything together until fully combined.
Place in an airtight container and chill in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Storage:
Salad dressing can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Do not freeze.
Variations:
Add 1 finely chopped hard boiled egg
Use a dash or two of hot pepper sauce
Replace the sweet pickle relish with dill pickle relish
Include 1 teaspoon of horseradish sauce
Substitute cocktail sauce in place of ketchup
Add 1 clove of finely minced garlic
Use a red onion in place of a white onion
Add a teaspoon a Worcestershire sauce
